Setup Builder 4 issue

Since I do not see a place for Setup Builder 4 issues I figured I'd post here.

I've reported this before and experiancing it again, Setup Builder hangs during install:

this seems to be happening on XP machines. The app is written in CW55EE and the SetupBuiler version is the one provided by SoftVelocity.

I am the one who is having the problem hang during install. We have tryed this on a few XP machines and it works perfectly on 2k but don't want it on 2k we want it on XP. Any ideas?

Hello,

This seems to be a "DDE problem" on your machine. Your "firewall" software or virus scanner is blocking some DDE commands.

Does version 5 have the same issue?

No. SB5 does not use DDE any longer. So this problem is history in SetupBuilder 5.

BTW, it's not a SB4 "bug". A third party tool is "blocking" some DDE commands on your machine (firewall, virus scanner auto-protect, etc.).

I've been very careful to call it an "issue" and not a bug. ;)

For SB to say my app is not responding is a very big deal and ultimately reflects poorly on my product not SB.

How can I gain access to the SB5 beta? Thanks!

If you create installations for your products, you only have to disable the "Select Program Folders" dialog. This function uses DDE in SB4.
