View Full Version : Installer EXE Icon

Hi All,

I would like to have the installer EXE generated by the compiler display an
icon of my choice but for the life of me can't find where to set this
property.

This is not the same as setting up the icon for the shortcuts. A feature
similar to that to set the icon for the installer itself is what I'm looking
for.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

SB6.9.2415

Thanks.

Hi Lee,

If I remember correctly, from the last time I asked, Friedrich was going to
make this possible in SB7.

Best regards,

Hi Arnor,

Then I'm not blind after all??

What a relief.

I'll look in SB7 and see if that feature exists.

SetupBuilder always displays the recommended icon for Windows Installers.
This will not change in the future.

Hi Friedrich,

I sometimes use SB to build little tools that are a PITA to try in Clarion
and the foot print is so tiny it just makes sense to do this. I then shell
out and run these from within my Clarion app. These are the EXEs I would
truly love to have a special icon display because they are not installers.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

This makes sense! I'll give it some serious thoughts. But this is not a
trivial change, because the SetupBuilder installation "stub loader" requires
a fix resource size. Special icons (stored in the stub resource) would make
the resource size "variable".

Thank you so much. The same to you and your family!

Hi Friedrich

I see it now.... "UtilityBuilder" for Windows:- A simple scripting tool to simplify
all thos small tasks within a Windows environment!

Just change the product name, the icon and you will have twice the customers :-)
And enough cash to build a nice stable for the pony!
