Hi folks,

Just wanted to let everyone know that SetupBuilder 5.5 will be released
next week. The conference in Cambridge was a big success and we have
received quite a few interesting suggestions. We have added a few more
fixes, and want to be able to regress test them over the weekend.

Robert Zaunere came up with a great idea for Pocket PC deployment. As
a result, we'll change our roadmap for SetupBuilder 6 to fully support
Pocket PC installers. You'll be able to compile over-the-air and
standard CAB file technology installations.

To sum it up, the upcoming SetupBuilder 5.5 already makes it possible
to deploy your Win32 and .NET applications, a later 5.5 service pack
will introduce Windows Installer Merge Module support, SetupBuilder 6
will add support for .msi and Pocket PC deployment.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Hi Jean-Pierre,

You are right, this page does not exist any longer. I have removed the
link to the page now.

It should read:
http://www.lindersoft.com/setupscript_5.htm

Thanks,

Hi Jean-Pierre,

Correct. In your case, the new maintenance and support plan is valid
until 31-Aug-2007 and includes support requests, service releases,
feature enhancements and all new SetupBuilder Developer Edition versions
for one year.

BTW, the next SetupBuilder 5.5 will be our 20th update since 5.0 Gold.

Hi Jean-Pierre,

Sorry, I meant your next maintenance and support plan will be valid until
31/08/07.

I fear too much coding isn't good for my health :-(

Okay, I have trouble with our accounting lady now. It should read "We will
BEGIN to send out notifications by the end of next week". It will take
5-7 days to send out all notifications.

Did I miss something?

Is Softvelocity planning support for PocketPC/Windows Mobile?

Paul,

You will be able to use Clarion.net to develop Pocket PC .NET applications.
We saw a nice demo at Cambridge University.

Interesting. Did the demo convince you that SV was on track?

IMO, it already looked pretty good. Especially the .NET application
demo for the Pocket PC knocked me off my chair. BobZ opened a
Clarion.net solution, compiled the stuff, distributed the resulting
application to a Windows Mobile 5.0 and it worked very nicely. This
Clarion.net feature can open new markets for us.

Hello,

How easy was it to get it on a Windows Mobile 5.0? Was the demo done on
PDA or was the demo done on CellPhone?

Hi Robert,

It was done on a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator. And it
was very easy to get it on the Pocket PC - the cab file installed the
application within a few seconds.

Hello,

Was it done on a PDA or was it done on a Cell Phone? Meaning, was the Right
and Left Buttons available to be used for popup menus and options?

I have the latest emulators here - the Pocket PC PDA (WM 5.0) and Pocket PC
Phone (WM 5.0) emulators look quite identical. But I think (I'm 95% sure)
it was done one a PDA emulator.

BTW, I seem to remember that the latest Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0 (beta)
was used, not Device Emulator 1.0.
