View Full Version : C7 Registration - Odd behavior

Anyone else experience this? In testing C7 registration, I found something
I don't understand. After registering vuFileTools, I unregistered it and
uninstalled. Double checked, everything uninstalled. Re-installed, and
auto-registration took about 5 seconds, never showed Clarion7 but it
registered! Even stranger, every registration I did after that on other
installs (even ones I never did before) did the same thing. Took just a few
seconds, never displayed Clarion7, but registered!

An excerpt from the script, along with a "success" message (which does
display), is attached.

No, not strange ;-) We don't need an active Clarion 7 IDE any longer to
register templates from the installer!

You can install from the installer with or without an active C7 IDE. That's
why you don't need to check for the active (open) C7 IDE ;-)

It's possible that you'll see an improved registration performance because
the .NET stuff is already loaded when you register again. When doing the
first registration, it has to load some C7 DLLs and the .NET framework
itself. But this performance improvement is not on all machines.

BTW, you can check the %_SB_ERRORCODE% variable after the "Register all
pending Clarion Templates" function to see if the registration succeeded.

Does this help?

Hi Bill,

Clarion 7 uses an independent command line registration utility called
clarioncl.exe - it is documented in the C7 help somewhere.
