Hi

Is the C6Fix also needed for C6.3 on Win7 ?

Secondly ... I get the following message trying to install C7 on W7 . (see

Any ideas ??

I did a quick look in my SB installs and it looks like SB does not detect
Win 7. Perhaps there are OS conditions in the C7 install that make it for
example require XP, Vista or WS2008. That would exclude Win7.

Yes, the C6Fix is needed for C6.3 on Win7.

The next SB6 and SB7 (beta) releases will introduce built-in support for
Windows 7 and Server 7. It's already fully integrated in the latest
internal SB7 (beta) and will be ported back to SB6 now.

I'll also make a recompiled C6Fix available.

There IS an alternative until Friedrich gives us the updated build.

Troubleshoot compatibility - run through a series of steps (similar to what
Vista does now - I have not run through the Vista procedure in QUITE some
time, so I had forgotten about it)

AND, Viola! - your EZChangeLog PRO install works - my Product Scope 7
install works - YES!

Hi David,

This will not make the installations Windows7 nor Server7 "aware" ;-) This
would only start a legacy (not Vista-aware) or asInvoker with administrator
execution level privileges.

The Clarion 7 installer makes use of the "OS Requirements" (System Software
Requirements) feature. Because the version number for Windows 7 and Server
7 was unknown, it is "excluded" and so does not start.

If you build OS independent installations, then you are not affected
(directly). But some features (e.g. Restore Point, Scheduled Tasks, Set
Access Control) definitely do not work under Server 7 (Server 2008 R2) with
the current SB6 and SB7 builds because this Server thing is brand new.

So you'll need the upcoming maintenance releases for SB6 and SB7 to support
Windows 7 and Server 7.

Please read, Friedrich. READ!!!! I apologize. Of course, you are so
completely right <g>. I only saw the "Run as administrator" item. Program
compatibility is a mode in Windows that lets you run programs written for
earlier versions of Windows. So you can definitely use this to "set" the
version back to Vista.

Sorry for my confusion.

work, wonder what I did wrong! :-D

Yes, but most of us see this, of course, as a temporary fix until the next
latest SetupBuilder build addresses this - WE very much appreciate that
your company is ALWAYS on top of the latest developments! including an OS
that barely made a public beta stage!

Yes, one of the most prominent SB installs I have tested to date (besides
SetupBuilder Developer 6.9) - THAT did work under Windows 7 (without any
TroubleShooter compabitility help) is:

Ben,

I have this habit of right clicking on Files and examining options, viewing
file properties, etc :-D

- it would make sense at this stage (early public beta),

they would have the "Troubleshoot compatibility" option - because MS wants
everyone to have a "better Vista" experience early on - AND to use their
favorite programs, etc

It was probably set to include specific OSs (unwise) instead of excluding
the off-limits ones (better choice to future proof the installer).
