Friedrich,

It is so cool that the install can detect that I had a release candidate
installed and rolled it back automatically (after I answered the question to
allow it) then went ahead and installed the regular new update.

This is a technique that I hope SV learns to use. In previous releases of
Clarion there have been times when a candidate release messed up installing
the real release.

This is a really neat feature.

Michael,

If SV would also learn how to detect the Clarion folder ....

JP,

I don't know about that, I wasn't trying to be critical. There have been
releases in the past where special patches have been created for a minor
release level that have caused problems when trying to install the "real"
release. I just think that this is a neat feature that SV might not know
about ( I didn't until I saw it work) that could keep this from happening
when they release a version and then a quick patch to fix a showstopper they
released quickly.

Friedrich,
You may have already answered this, but does this DEP problem also
affect installs built with SetupBuilder 4.03 that are targeted to
WinXP or Windows 2003 TS, all 32-bit?

Roger,

We have tested SetupBuilder 4.03 installers with DEP and I think they are
not affected by this issue. Setup.exe applications compiled with SB4 do not
include any XP, 2003 or x64 specific code nor do they perform just-in-time
(JIT) code generation or execute memory from the default process stack or
heap.

Michael,

Not critical either here only a bit cynical as after all they distribute a
free licence of SB and do not even use it 'properly' themselves in their
setups ....

Here we say :'with if's one could put paris in a bottle' - so I presume with
the same if's we could hope to have an SV installer with rollback on error
and detecting directory and detecting licence key etc ....

Hi JP

And down here we say with regards to IF

IF My Auntie had Balls, She would be my Uncle!

.... Avec les balls, mon Aunt est mon Uncle! You could probably translate this better
to Francais than moi...

"IF" is one a most under appreciated words, probably because it is so short!

I also like the French interpretation you quote.

John,

Moreover this IF is absolutely unknown to all of us Clarion devs after all
no ?

is that called a british understatement too ? <G>

Si ma tante en avait ce serait mon oncle .....
