do i have to do some special tasks to get shortcuts placed? I have no shortcuts
when setting up on vista.

Just make sure you did NOT accidentally set "Requested Execution Level" in
the General Information Visualizer to "asInvoker".

No, DON'T do this. You have to use "requireAdministrator" (the default) for
per-machine installations. Never ever play with this setting if you are
doing per-machine installations for UAC-aware Windows operating systems!
