View Full Version : installation Rollback

Specifically:
* What triggers a "Do you want to Rollback installation" dialog?
* What exactly will be rolled back? Installed files.... INI mods... registry
changes.... part/all?
* How can the option-to-Rollback installation be disabled? I may want to
force forward-only in installation, with no ability to revert/retain.

This information needs to be in the SB documentation/Help, btw.

It's in the documentation.

See documentation for "Disable Rollback after Failed Installation" in the
"General Information" Properties:

Disable Rollback after Failed Installation—Set this option to Checked to
prevent an automatic rollback in case the install fails. You may wish to use
this option if there are actions requiring manual rollback.

A failed installation triggers it. You can disable it by marking the above
checkbox. It "rolls back" what is in the uninstall log for the new install
or an update install (smart rollback).

Hope this gives you an idea.

Regards,

But if you put "Rollback" in the Index tab, it returns nothing.... if you
put it in the Search tab it returns various, non-related items.

If you put "Disable Rollback after Failed Installation" in Index (*or*
Search): it returns nothing .

So how is one supposed to find it?

However... <g>.. we're getting there : can I get info on the question: "What
exactly will be rolled back? Installed files.... INI mods... registry
changes.... part/all?"?

Thanks...
Steve

Well, the answer to this question was the following <g>

I wrote:

In other words, if you do an *update* and you write INI/Registry
modifications and Install File(s) actions, etc. to the uninstall .log, then
all these update actions will be "smart" rolled-back.

If it is a *new* install, a complete uninstall action will take place.

Does this help?

Yes, got it.

Now... if you can just extend the doc to add more links (to make a
properly-functioning *Index*), that'll be 'real good' too!

Thanks for the info, Friedrich..

Yes, you are right. We'll improve the CHM keyword index. As an already
available alternative, you can use the PDF manual (full text search).

I often prefer the search in the CHM as it highlights all the words in the
text.
