Hi David,

I believe CapeSoft started out using CSIDL_Personal (My Documents - current
user) and I don't know where they are putting examples now.
The current consensus I believe is to use CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS. I think
CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS is a better description than to tell people to follow
some vendor's examples;) I have been using COMMON_DOCUMENTS for quite a
while:)
Best regards,

Arnor,
As of Clarion 7 Release Candidate - Build 5300 - SoftVelocity - they have
switched to CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS & '\SoftVelocity\Clarion 7'

Of course, correct as usual -
Clarion Third Party vendors - please consider switching to this format for
C7 install builds for your examples (if not doing so already) - so your
customers will have a uniform place to "FIND them" - Thank you very much!
CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS & '\SoftVelocity\Clarion
7\Accessory\<vendor>\<productname>' format.
'\SoftVelocity\Clarion 7\Accessory\<vendor>\<productname>'
Please, note particularly the <sp> as in Clarion<sp>7

Arnor,
PLEASE Note - I mentioned specifically "CapeSoft" and "CapeSoft" examples
in my post BECAUSE I have access to CapeSoft C7 install builds.
Anyone following the recent blog "Clarion programs - Making App Data UAC
(Vista) safe and XP compatible"
http://profileexchanges.com/blog/?p=120
will know I specifically use a Clarion 7 build of CapeSoft's WinEvent to do
my testing for Clarion 7 compatibility in creating UAC (Vista) safe App
Data for a Clarion Program.
"beta release of Clarion 7.0.5080 - using a simple Create Folders only test
program, AND included in this help (chm version) file - global embed code
to use in the Phones.app example found in the Clarion 7 Lessons folder" -
both using a Clarion 7 version of CapeSoft's WinEvent.
It was not my intention to "ruffle" anyone with the mention of CapeSoft
examples, but merely to point to their example as a logical choice for
Clarion Third Party C7 example locations using this format:
CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS & '\SoftVelocity\Clarion
7\Accessory\<vendor>\<productname>' format.
'\SoftVelocity\Clarion 7\Accessory\<vendor>\<productname>'
Please, note particularly the <sp> as in \Clarion<sp>7\
I believe some Clarion Third Party vendors have already adopted this
format, but I don't have access to their C7 builds, so I was reporting on a
example that hopefully is the logical choice for Clarion Third Party
vendors, and the customers who will gain the most by a standard format.

Actually AFAIK they have been putting their examples in
CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS and just setting a shortcut to them from
CSIDL_PERSONAL_DOCUMENTS so that a user could find them from either base
folder.

Indeed. I think David was just trying to make the point that in doing so
other vendors would be following in SV's footsteps (finally<g>).

Yes you have<g>
:-)
