View Full Version : SetupBuilder support for Compact Framework Deployment - Friedrich

Hi Friedrich,

We've developed an application for PDAs with Clarion.NET

When it comes to distributing this at the moment we use:-
1 - the Compact Framework SDK CabWiz tool to generate the PDA CAB and
setup.ini files
2 - SetupBuilder to package these CABs so that they are installed into the
ActiveSync (XY) or Windows Media Device Centre (Vista) folder
3 - SetupBuilder to RUN CEAPPMGR.EXE to register the setup.ini file and then
the installation runs.

OK - this all works but it's a bit of a bind.
So question is which parts (if any) of this are capable of being 'automated'
using SetupBuilder 7, and which version of SetupBuilder (Professional,
Developer, Enterprise etc) do we need.

Many thanks, and I hope you had a good holiday ;)

Graham

Friedrich should be back tomorrow.

SetupBuilder 7.0 (Gold) will not support "Mobile Devices Packages"

This will be available in a later SB7.x build.

Hi there,

Many thanks for that - any idea when Mobile Device support will be available
(roughly).

We don't have an exact time frame yet. Making new features available is a
priority-driven processes. We have internal release schedules for the next
few months (until December 2009) and that feature is on the release list.

Hi Friedrich,

Many thanks for the reply - not trying to get you to commit to anything
prematurely.
It's just I'm having to do it the 'long way' at the moment and looking
forward to SetupBuilder riding to the rescue ;)
