Found the error !

The error was caused by PKEY.EXE

I have for ages been unable to use the distributed PKEY.EXE but must on all
upgrades remember to restore my saved PKEY.EXE from 17. dec. 2006.

I really would love if SetupBuilder would leave this alone <g>

What was different this time was not getting error messages about failing
codesigning !

No, if code-signing process fails, then the Microsoft code-signing tool will
report an error code. So this was definitely NOT the cause of it.

PKEY.EXE has been discussed in this newsgroup. You should really switch
your certificate to a PFX and use SignTool if PKEY.EXE does not work on your
machine.

But again, this was not the cause of it. If PKEY.EXE fails then the
password passed to the code-signing tool is incorrect and returns an error
code. If the compiler says "Code signed successfully" then the Microsoft
code-signing tool succeeded.
