My web page has one button to download setup.exe which is the same file I
use in CD distribution. The user has to click "save" instead of "run" and
after the save, running the file displays my company as the code signing
dictates. Clicking "run" instead of "save" was not meant to function here,
and results in the same error described below.
The web page has another button to launch wsetup.exe when the user clicks
"run" instead of "save." Without making any change in my web page, that
button now FAILS after I uploaded the code-signed version. If the user
clicks "save" instead of "run" and then LAUNCHES wsetup.exe from the TARGET
COMPUTER, the program runs and initiates the piece-wise download and
installation. That installation formerly happened remotely when the user
clicked "run" twice (no "save" step).
The new error message is titled with my Temporary Internet Files location
and says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You
may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Does the change in behavior mean I put a wrong address into the signing
certificate? Is there some other setting I need to change?
