View Full Version : Target directory application Folder is not...

I have been successful with 2 installation projects. The third is giving me
problems. I say this because all three are setup the same with the
exception of some file names. There are 2 setup options: Evaluation, and
Reinstall.

Evaluation does not require a password and includes the folder with EXE, DLL
and other necessary files. And a folder with sample data files.

The Reinstall requires a password and will only install the EXE, DLL and
other necessary files.

If it select the Evaluation setup option the installation will progress
until this error message:

"Target directory application Folder is not writable or accessible. The
installation cannot continue."

If the script lines are run in the order listed in the Script Editor the
message always is displayed after the first sample data file which is the
Reinstall setup type. If I change the order of the files that file name is
being displayed when the message shows.

The folder attribute has a grayed check mark in the read-only box. None of
the source files are read-only. If I rerun the installation the it will
progress to the same point.

When I select Installation Details > Files and Folders and right click I am
not able to get to the details because the option is disabled.

SetupBuilder 6.0.1750

As I said, none of the source files are read-only. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Bob

As an experiment I removed the two files from the list that were being
displayed when the error shows. Though I removed each, and recompiled, the
two file names are not removed and the same file name is being displayed.

The attached file has all of the TPS files in the script though everyone of
them have been removed. So I continue to get the error.

I am at a loss. I can not get it to a point that is clean so I can start
again....

Bob,

Lines 152 - 195 (Sample Database feature) cause this problem. File
Properties -> General -> Location

Do you remember what you did when you added these files?

I have attached a fixed script. I have replaced "Application Folder" with
%_SBINSTALLDIR%

Friedrich, thank you for your help. The project runs fine now.

I am not sure when I added the sample files but I do remember how I did it.
I had saved a temple with some application DLL specific to two programs I
have. The project that was used to create the template did not have any
problems. I removed all the sample files before saving the template.

I added the sample files by selecting all the TPS files in the app
directory. I then removed the few files I did not need.

I have used that method with another template without a problem.

Again thanks for your help,
Bob
