Moving SB5 scripts across to SB6

Hi Friedrich.

I understand that SB6 can open SB5 scripts and compile them without a
problem. I'm wondering though, would you recommend that we create new .SB6
scripts? Do .SB6 scripts have any features that .SB5 scripts don't support,
or when I open a .SB5 script using SB6 does SB6 "upgrade" that script so
that it's the same as an .SB6 script? If I simply rename my .SB5 scripts to
..SB6 will they then be the same as if I had created them using SB6?

Hi Gary,

Because there are quite a few new features in the upcoming SetupBuilder 6.5,
it is not recommended to open and compile .sb6 or .sb5 projects (converted
to SB6) using the old SB5.

I don't say that it is impossible to compile a .sb6 project in SB5 - it
depends on the script.

The underlying script format in SB5 and SB6 is identical. But there are new
functions in SB6 (not supported in SB5).

Thanks.. I'm actually asking the other way around. Not whether I can
compile SB6 scripts using SB5, but rather if I can compile SB5 scripts using
SB6. More specifically, if I have a number of SB5 scripts and I want to now
use SB6, do I just rename the scripts from ".SB5" to ".SB6" and open them
with SB6, or is it better to create new scripts using SB6?

I hope that makes more sense..

Sorry, I need vacation <g>.

Yes, you can rename the .sb5 files to .sb6 and then open them in SB6. Or
open the .sb5 in SB6 and save as .sb6.

You can also open .sb5 files in SB6 and only save (as .sb5). SB6 can
compile both .sb5 and .sb6 scripts.

No problem <g>. South Africa is nice and warm at the moment if you're
looking for a destination ;).

I renamed a script from ".SB5" to ".SB6" and loaded it up into SB6. It
upgraded the script. I then compiled and it's warning me that "Wizard Auto
Break" is no longer a supported function. I couldn't find anything in the
documentation about this.

You can delete the line or comment it out. But you can also leave it where
it is :) The compiler just ignores it.
