Application does not start under XP

I thought I would post this here also.

I have a really weird problem. My application installs to XP and then fails
to start - does not even show in the Task Manager.

The error message they have finally told me is "ERROR: Please run this
program from the Administrator account so it can set up your license. Once
the license is set up, you can run it from any account."

Google mentions logging into an administrator account but not quite sure how
on XP. Is there something I can do in SB to cater for this unusual scenario?

Trouble is my 2 XP machines work fine!

Anyone got any idea what this is as I cannot get access to the machine.

I do not have the details but they said it was some special edition of XP as
I recall. Sorry to be so vague.

That is an Armadillo message.

Your ARM project is set to store the Armadillo first run info in the SYSTEM
Registry. But your program does not have access to it (I suspect it is on a
limited account in XP).

Drop me an E-mail if that is the case.

Explorer - right click - run as - administrator to setup the first run.

That is not necessary if you do the protection right and set it up
correctly in the installer.

Also if the app is a service process, that would not work.

As Charles Edmonds indicated - Armadillo protected in this case, and needs
to be Registry setup (by Administrator setup) initially, this applies to
installs run under Adminstrator accounts AND XP Limited accounts.

However, even if programs are not Armadillo protected, installers as a
general rule need to be run by Administrator accounts, so XP limited
accounts (and this would apply in a lot of corporations) have to be
initially setup by an Administrator account.

While these are essentially two separate issues (Armadillo Registry Setup
and XP limited accounts) - Administrator strategies have to be taken into
account.
