I'm trying to download this file
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=90&p=&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2 f0%2f6%2f1%2f061F001C-8752-4600-A198-53214C69B51F%2fdotnetfx35setup.exe
which is the dot net 3.5 install. Anyway just trying out the Download File
(HTTP) function I have found and SB7 doesnt like the above URL. The same URL
in Firefox and IE both work ok though.
So does anyone know if the above MS URL can be shortened into something SB7
would like?<g>

Hi Richard,

You have to use *two* percent signs next to each other if you want to use a
percent sign.
But I think Microsoft is using some kind of "redirection" for their
downloads. In most cases, the HTTP component can't download files from
Microsoft servers.

Hi Richard,
But the following direct link should work fine:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/1/061F001C-8752-4600-A198-53214C69B51F/dotnetfx35setup.exe
See attached screenshot. It downloaded the file without any problem.

Hi Friedrich
Yeah I've got it downloading the file and installing it for me now. :-) I
didnt know about the get HTTP function until last night!
Dont worry about that price for that download script I asked about, I think
I'll have it doing what I need in about 30-60mins. I didnt realise it was so
easy to download from other websites like this! Will be interesting to see
how the web install version goes.<g>

<G>
That's the cool thing about SetupBuilder. It is really powerful stuff once
you know how to do it, and then only the sky is the limit <g>

Just in case anyone else wants to find the HTTP URL to download MS files
look for a line like this in their web page source:
Could be worth searching for
"http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2f"
http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2f2 %2f6%2f1%2f261fca42-22c0-4f91-9451-0e0f2e08356d%2fWindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe
http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2f2 %2f6%2f1%2f261fca42-22c0-4f91-9451-0e0f2e08356d%2fWindows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu
The search for "%2f" and replace with "/"
And the path will be revealed.<g>

I checked through the webpage source and found the shorter URL in there.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/1/061F001C-8752-4600-A198-53214C69B51F/dotnetfx35setup.exe

Richard,
Could you use bit.ly to shorten this? I am using bit.ly to shorten &
track a lot of urls that I post online and use otherwise. Just sign up
for a free bit.ly account. This is the same as used by Twitter. Just
another approach in addition to what else has been said in this
thread.
