I was wondering if we will be expecting a SetupBuilder MSI version? When?

We already have an experimental compiler available to generate .msi files in future SetupBuilder versions. We plan to add native MSI support to SetupBuilder 5.5 (beta scheduled for July 2004). The SetupBuilder 5.0 state-of-the-art IDE already includes a "plug-in" interface for extending the system.

Do you know how much MSI support will cost?

Is this the SetupBuilder 5.5 Architect Edition? I need to create both SetupScript (90%) and .MSI (10%) projects. I don't want to pay 1,199 bucks for an Installshield product (overpriced and poor quality). Small setup.exe file overhead is a must.

The SetupBuilder 5.5 Architect Edition (not yet officially announced) is expected to include support for Windows Installer (MSI), as well as all the features of the 5.5 Developer Edition. You can create both SetupScript and .msi projects.

The price has not been firmly set, but is likely to be in the $499-$599 range.

Will SetupBuilder 5.5 Architect Edition also be available as an "upgrade" (5.0 -> 5.5)?

Yes, SetupBuilder 5.5 Architect Edition will also be available as an upgrade for existing SetupBuilder users.
