Received my mail of acceptance from Comodo. After clicking the Install link
and collecting my certificate it tells me that I should backup my private
key - but where do I find it? And where's the cert?

I hope you have selected the "In the File" option:

Otherwise, it's in your Internet Explorer "certificate pool" and you have to
export it (not easy, but there are some threads in our community on how to
do this).
By default, it's created in your c:\ root. If you have used an UAC-aware
operating system (I hope you didn't), this root is write protected and "In
the File" is not available.

Ok, I realize my situation now ... I used Firefox ...
Going by BSHARDI's instructions in your second link - crossing my fingers!
Thanks

Thank you BSHARDI - whoever you are, you saved my a$$!
And to everyone else who - like me - don't care to read the instructions
properly:
Renewing a certificate is a job for XP and IE - NOT Vista and NOT FF!
RTFM!
Thanks also to Friedrich for providing the life-saving link! <g>
