Could I get advice on how to use Patching in an alternate installation
scenario - please see my earlier thread (just 2 back) entitled "Please
check my logic..."
TIA

Looks good to me. If you are interested, I can test your installer on
Vista64 Ultimate and/or Vista32 Ultimate.

You mean the second version of my 'scheme' , right?
Was my logic in the second post correct, that the manifest+ version (for
Vista) must always be 'installed', so that the patch can (conditionally)be
applied against it? (and the first version won't work, therefore)
If this works, I think its a very good way to ship the multi-version: copy
the file at installer compile time (so always the right version), then use
patching to minimise installer size... I like it!
I have *just* got my delivery of brand-new Vista machine from Dell, bought
to test all this stuff.... so once I've got it all set up... off we go
thanks

Hi Steve,
Yes. But you can do both without any problem. Always install the non-Vista
version and patch to the Vista version on Vista machines -or- install the
Vista-version and patch to the non-Vista version on non-Vista machines.
From the technical point of view, it does not make a difference :)

But that wasn't what I was doing in my first 'try' (the original post)
In that case, *no* version was 'always installed'... which I later
considered to be an error.
But let's forget abut that - I like this funky method <g>
