View Full Version : Shortcut icons will not work

Please see attached. According to the help files if you add an icon path it
works. But it also says you have to leave the index blank. Whilst you can
blank it out, when you save it 0 is added.
The shortcut icons however do now show up when installed. Only icons I have
in my exe using an index #
Also, Friedrich, any chance of making the browse work for external files
rather than typing in the icon pathname (assuming it works).

John,
The shortcut is going to have to find the icon file on the user's machine,
not on yours.
Try including the icon file in your installation.
Then set the icon file to %_SB_INSTALLDIR%\help.ico

John,
I agree with Jane - better to include files in installation - even if
trying this for test purposes only on your computer - always try to produce
on your machine what is likely and workable for end users.
BTW, as an experiment - I took your example, and it installed correctly for
a desktop shortcut for these two resource locations:
C:\Users\Encourager Software\Documents\icons\sample.ico
C:\apps\icons\sample.ico

Thanks - my misunderstanding. But I am going to start another thread related
to this for Friedrichs attention.
