Install - restart system message

In my install I am checking for file in use on my exes and will not
allow the install to continue. However, on occasion I will pass the in
use check and complete the install. When the finish button is pressed I
get a "This system must be restarted to complete the install" dialog.
How can I find which file is causing this?

Just check the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager

entry for PendingFileRenameOperation

There you should find the name of the "locked" file.
