Hi All

Anyone know how to increase the number of projects held in the project list?

Not too sure about SB5, but when Friedrich released SB6 the list would only hold 4 or
5. I pestered him (nicely ) and he increased it to 10. Still wish it would hold
more...

Could it be an option to use the Release system in the setup? It is quite
simple to create different setups from the same installationscript by
defining compiler variables and conditionally include files based on the
variable value.

Damn. SB5 is also displaying 10. We really need around 50. We release
upgrades of all modules at least once a week. Friedrich - pretty please!
It will save a great deal of time if we did not have to navigate to get the
next install set to recompile.

With that level of activity you should consider automating the process. I
use VSoft Technologies' FinalBuilder to do this - it perform the compiles
(note: Delphi not Clarion), builds the help files and runs the SetupBuilder
scripts. Otherwise, just a simple batch file might do the trick?

That is a bit much for a MRU list. Perhaps a batch file with command line
arguments would be to your liking?

I think it would be a great idea to be able to group installs together
into categories and display this as a tree. I would have something
like:

Icetips Products
Icetips Utilities
Icetips Previewer
...
My Client 1
Main Install
Web Update Install
My Client 2
Main Install
Conversion Install
Web Update Install
Other

and under Other would pop in any installs that are opened or created
and haven't been put into a category. Crystal Reports Xi does this
and it works pretty nicely. Unfortunately there is no option to add
the current report to a category, you have to add it manually.

The way it is it get's pretty unruly very quickly and because this is
a static list it's kind of useless.

Thanks Arnor! I cancelled a few posts as I could not quite get a similar thought
organized. Textpad calls such items "workspaces" and it can recall as many as
you set it up to save.

In EditPlus I have "Projects" where I can line files up that are
associated. Then I can load the whole project or individual files.
Similar concept. I really like being able to arrange things into
groups and I already have several groups of installs that I need to
load from time to time. Being able to arrange them into SB and see
them in a tree view when I open it would make it very easy to
maintain. If there was an option in the File menu to "Add to
category" or something like that which would pop up a selection of
which category to add it to and maybe a description that would show up
in the tree, maybe as a tooltip, that would be great. The categories
could be a dropdown combo so you could create a new category on the
fly. I think this would really make an impression on people who have
a lot of installs. Last count I have somewhere around 20-25 installs
in SB4, SB5 (that I haven't migrated to 6.5 for whatever reason) and
6.5. They will all be in 6.5 within the next month or two;)

The problem with these picklists is that you can't organize them and
you can't sort the contents. I'd much prefer an option to organize my
installs into logical categories or projects or something like that:)

Welcome:)

Here is how CR Xi organizes it. The problem here is that you have to
insert the reports there by using the "Add" button and there is no way
to add the currently open/active report to a selected project. With
SB I think there would be more projects and smaller, i.e. just a few
installs in each, but I would certainly use this feature if it was in
there.

Fortunately the order means squat to us - we recompile all projects once a
week for distribution. But that would be nice in some instances.

Sorry about the late reply. Been flying around the world the last couple of
days - working.

That will do just fine. Will need to do some homework on my side as we have
not delved much into SB5.

BTW - will be ordering the latest SB - as soon as I get the time! Vista
has reared it's ugly head and we have promised them all ahead of time!
