SetupBuilder 6.9 [4] Invalid setup script.

Hello Fredrich,

Sometimes (since upgrading to your latest version of SB 7.3) when I
start my application I receive this error message ??????

I think it has to do with automatic updates but ...

A tip please ?

Hello JP,

I checked this, but there is no "SetupBuilder 6.9" text in SetupBuilder 7.3.

I don't think that it has anything to to with SB73. It seems to me that
this message comes from an old SB69 application.

BTW, this error is reported if the runtime detects an "invalid" setup
script. Perhaps one of your latest "protection" software updates (that
blocks your old SB69 app)? But it's not caused by SB73 (nor was it an issue
in SB69).

Could it be the auto updating as found in registry ?
Which exe name is that calling ?
Maybe that exe is too "old" now (have not changed it in years so could
very well be the cause of the pb)
Plus I do think remembering I use a "personal" wupdate version and not
yours (why is another story to dig into) <g>

I don't know which program you call from your application. If you are using
the WebUpdate feature to check for updates, I assume you are using
"wupdate.exe" and/or "wucheck.exe".

BTW, I don't think that it has anything to do with the .EXE per-se. There
was no bug in SB69 that caused such an "Invalid setup script" error. There
is something on your machine (or in your own application now) that causes
this problem.

In registry I have in HKLM
WUpdate pointing to a file on my machine dated 2008

I recompiled that exe (your WUpdate renamed because I have TWO apps in
the SAME folder thus need to differentiate the TWO WUpadte.exe's) and
placed it in my dev working folder

Will see if this solves the pb ...

Your application calls an application that displays the above error. So
it's also possible that another application (e.g. wucheck.exe) causes it.
The HKLM entry just tells you that there is a WebUpdate enabled application.
But it does tell you which program your own application calls (you have to
check this in your source codes). I would suggest to check for both
wupdate.exe and wucheck.exe.
