View Full Version : Installing/Registering Fonts

I need to install a font on the destination computer. In SB6.5 I see that I
can check the "Register as True Type font" check box on the Install File
screen. Do I need to install the file to %FONTSDIR% ?

What about the Register Font script command? It allows me (forces me) to give
the font a name but the Install File option does not. I am unclear what
combination of options to use. I would appreciate any guidance folks can
offer.

Peter,

To install and register true type fonts, you can use "Install File".
Install the font into Windows Fonts folder and check the "Register as True
Type Font" option in the Files Properties dialog. That's it. You'll see
the font title in the General Tab.

The "Register Font..." script function can be used to register a font
without having to install it first. For example, the font file is already
there (but not registered) and you would like to register it. Or you copy
the file (not install) and then register it as a font. Or download a font
from the Internet and register it. And so on and so on.

Hi Friedrich,

Yes this helps a lot. There is still a (possible) problem. I don't see the
font title on the General tab of Install File. Here is the line:

Install File "[PRODUCTPATH]\Install\Fonts\Micre13b.ttf" to
"%_SB_INSTALLDIR%\Micre13b.ttf" (Always Install) [TrueType]

I have attached the font file I am using to this message so you try it yourself
and see what is happening.

Hi Peter,

I see the Font Title "MICRE13 B" (under the Version item) when I open the
File Properties dialog in the SB65 IDE for your Micre13b.ttf file.

Hi Friedrich,

Ok, I see it now. It is disabled and the field color is gray on slightly
lighter gray so it is really hard to see that there is something there.

Hi Peter,

Yes, I noticed the same when I answered your message yesterday. On my
Vista-64 notebook (with ClearType enabled) the Font Title was hard to read.
Fixed now, thank you.
