I have an old app I inherited that uses Jet 4.0 as a database.

Is there a way to have setup builder install that?
Under core prerequisites I don't see Jet as an option.

To make matters worse, I need the app to run on Windows 7. I have looked at the Jet service pack page on Microsoft and it does not list Windows 7 on there.

ANy suggestions appreciated.

Side note: is there a program to run that can profile all of the components and prerequisites that a program needs? I have this app running in Windows XP.

Hi,

Yes, absolutely no problem and very simple to do. You can use SetupBuilder to embed and deploy the Jet 4.0 redistributables for any OS.

I think the following is a good starting point. It also provides the required redistributable downloads.

You can use the "Get File Info..." script function to check if (and which version of) "Msjet40.dll" is installed. See "How to determine the current release level of Jet 4.0" in the MS whitepaper.

BTW, if you are running Windows Vista and later, then you already have a later version of Jet 4.0 than the version that is included with Jet 4.0 SP8.

Does this help?
