View Full Version : Separate uninstalls for different clarion versions

Hi
Fairly sure I have read a helpful thread about creating "separate"
installations for c55, c6 etc from the same setup program. If that makes any
sense.
Think it required changing guids, but can't find it now.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Simon

I think the following is an interesting reading:

Does this help?

Hi Friedrich,
That does help. But, (if memory serves) the thread I was thinking of was
concerned more
with uninstall issues:
versions for (say) 55, 6.3 and 7.3 are installed "one by one". How does
uninstall work? For example, is it possible to just uninstall the "6.3
version"?
Thanks
Simon

This "multiple GUID method" makes it possible have seperate uninstall for
different Clarion versions. For example, if your setup.exe is used to
install your 3rd-party product to C6.3, C7 and C8 then you'll have three
separate items in the Add/Remove panel and three different uninstall
applications (all in the correct folder locations).
In other words, your customer can uninstall, say, the C7 template set and
the C6.3 and C8 stuff is still in place.
Does this help?

Hi Friedrich,
Bear with me please :-)
That's what I remember reading about. But where did I see the "multiple GUID
method" discussed / explained? Should I be looking at one of the example
scripts?
Thanks
Simon

I have developed and attached a 'quick-and-dirty' demo project.
This multiple-GUID demo can install three different "products" (with unique
Product GUIDs) into different folders with unique uninstall applications.
What do you think?

We'll add this demo to the next 'Examples Package' update.
BTW, the custom uninstall is only there to display the "correct" Product
Name during the uninstall.
Please ask if there is anything that is not clear.
