View Full Version : SB7 vs SetupBuilder vs Setup Builder vs ?? (Win 7 and Vista)

I wanted to run Setupbuilder and typed Setupb in the "search program
and files" area. I got links to uninstall and check for an update and
release notes and just about everything I didn't need BUT no program
file.
Then I noticed that the exe was called SB7 now? I found that by
navigating to the program folder and saw SB7 Developer link which
failed. I used Search Everything to find it. Is this normal or have I
screwed something up (7.4.3313)?
Is there a way to get it so that all the SetupBuilder stuff together in
one search?
Thanks, Bob Roos

This is normal since the introduction of Win7. If any of the following
strings, regardless of case, are included in the shortcut name, the program
is not pinnable on Win7 and is not displayed in the most frequently used
list:
- Documentation
- Help
- Install
- More Info
- Read me
- Read First
- Readme
- Remove
- Setup
- Support
- What's New
To provide Win7 compatibility, we had to rename the application shortcut
name. In other words, "SetupBuilder" is not a valid shortcut name any
longer.
Does this help?

Hi Friedrich,
Thanks for the info. I wonder what Windows 8 will do to things....?
What is really ironic is that I usually use Search Everything for .sb7
and pick out my setup file from the result. This time I decided to go
in the front door. And wouldn't you know, I was locked out! :)
OK, SB7 it is. Remember Bob, SB7....

Just rename it to Friedrich.exe
It passes the test to be able to be pinned to the start menu and Friedrich
is the one doing all the hard work anyway!
