View Full Version : Desktop Shortcut does not install

Every now and then my install program fails to install the desktop shortcut
and icon on a clients machine.
It happens a couple times a month on new installations so I wondering if
there is anything I may have missed.
Doubt it since this install has been used forever, but thought I would ask
if there are any suggestions.

I think what you see here is a typical Windows "cache" problem. Refresh
Desktop fixes this.
BTW, you can always check the uninstall .log and there you will find the
proof that the Desktop icon had been installed.
Does this help?

Thanks Friedrich,
Would it be a good/bad idea to do a Refresh in the install program and if so
where would be the best place.

Hi Don,

You can use the "Refresh Desktop" script function directly after your
"create shortcuts" code.

Don,
Also make sure you are creating the shortcuts in the all users desktop and
not just your own.

Thanks Abe,
Yes, think I will go and double check to make sure.
