View Full Version : GEN 1079 RTF line too long

Hi Friedrich,
I run into this with my EULA where SB7 (latest build, updated today)
complains the lenght of the line is > 10K. I don't like messing with legal
documents;) Any chance this could be increased?
Best regards,

Arnor,
Is this complaining about a line in the document or the length of the file?

Hi Arnor
Youve probably opened the .RTF with a recent edition of MS-Word. That will embed a lot
of 'junk' into the file. Try opening the EULA with WordPad and then saving it to a new
name. Compare the two filesizes and you will likely find the Wordpad a lot smaller,
and very likely to work again.

Just taking a stab at it but have you opened the RTF with a text
editor to see it it actually has a line that long? If it does just
break it into 2 or more and see if the error persists.

The limit was 1,024 bytes per line in 5.x and 6.x and we increased it to
10,240 bytes per line in 7.0. Unfortunately, it's not poossible to increase
it again (it has a very negative site effect on performance). A workaround
is to add a CR/LF to shorten the line.

I know what the problem is and know how to fix it:) The question was if
this limit can be increased:)

Thanks:) Interesting that it impacts performance so much. Is the line
length calculated as line length in the formatted text or in the raw RTF? I
think I may have edited this document in Word which will generate a much
more verbose RTF than WordPad which I normally use for this...
