All,

A last minute fix causes problems (wupdate does not work any longer).

Please download http://www.lindersoft.com/SBKERNEL.ZIP and unzip into your
SB5 \Bin32 folder

Please download http://www.lindersoft.com/WUPDATE.ZIP and unzip into your
SB5 root folder

This will be fixed tomorrow.

Friedrich,

Worked OK (wupdate) here. Even converted the current script to the new
format. Will look into the various pieces of the project just to be sure.

Confirmed working, thank you.

Confirmed working, thank you.

What is the "Start Parameter field"? I had a script that used Run
Program to start rundll32.exe and install a .inf file. After upgrading
to 1055 this line failed. Rundll32.exe is being invoked, but it is just
displaying an error message instead of doing what it used to do correctly.

I've found another way around this problem for now.

Friedrich,

Updated using "Check for Updates" for SB5 Dev #1042 to #1055 - no problems
(Cable modem download - W2k PRO)

I did download these two ZIP files first (and installed) - the download time
for the Check for Updates download was about 11 minutes using cable modem -
most installs are seconds.

David,

Hmm, perhaps a server performance problem? Could you please do me a favor?
I have uploaded the previous build #1042.

http://www.lindersoft.com/sb5/sb5_1042_Dev.exe

Could you please uninstall SB5 (please remove all sub-folders). Then
install build #1042 and update again to #1055. Same problem?

Thanks,
Friedrich

David,

Just checked the server log. Is ".tampabay.res.rr.com" your ISP?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Friedrich,

Yes, it is TampaBay Road Runner - Of course, they do slow down
intermittently at times - just never had it happen during your "watch" <g>

David,

<G>

I have the following in the server .log (I have removed the IP address)

xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.tampabay.res.rr.com - SB5 [22/Feb/2005:15:48:12 -0500]
"GET
/sb5/sb5_dev.ini HTTP/1.0" 200 56 "-" "SB5"
....
....
....
xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.tampabay.res.rr.com - SB5 [22/Feb/2005:15:48:54 -0500]
"GET
/sb5/sb51055_dev.0088 HTTP/1.0" 200 73306 "-" "SB5"

Check for Updates started at 15:48:12 and last file (.0088) downloaded at
15:48:54 (42 seconds). Strange...

Could you please test this again?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Please enter rundll32.exe in the "Start Parameter" field and the .inf file
in the "File Name" field.

Does this help?

Friedrich,

Uninstalled - installed Dev #1042, then check for updates - patched to Dev #
1055 - everything ran great this time - No Concorde speeds, but well within
a minute range or less. Guess someone oiled the tracks on this side of the
pond. Thanks!

Speed is NOT everything.
Remember, Concorde was cancelled.

Sim,

Of course, you're right, but when cable modem is working well (fast), along
with safe, secure, and complete downloads, sure beats dial-up's "slow and
steady" <g>

No.

FileName is set to "rundll32.exe"

Target Folder is set to "%SYS32DIR%"

Command Line is set to "setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall
132 %SYS32DIR%\mcdv.inf"

Start Parameter is blank

Default Directory is set to "%SYS32DIR%"

Wait for program is ticked.

This was working fine prior to the last update. Now rundll32.exe is
started, but the command line, or something, isn't being passed
correctly. Rundll32.exe is displaying an error message box. If I type
all this on the command line it works fine.
