-- PART IV: Not pinned to the Win8 Start Screen --
Quite a few developers are interested in the new SetupBuilder 8 support for
the Windows 8 Start Screen and are curious how this works.
One of the biggest changes in Windows 8 is the fact that the Start Menu has
been replaced by the tile-based Start Screen and now you have a very
different way of launching applications.
Desktop applications in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 should have only
ONE tile on the Start screen to provide a shortcut that launches the app.
If a "secondary action" needs a shortcut, you should unpin any extraneous
shortcuts on the Start screen; it will still be visible in "All apps".
For example: your installation creates one shortcut to launch your main
application and three shortcuts to utility applications. As it is now, this
will flood the Windows 8 Start screen with four new tiles. But this is a
no-go in Windows 8!
SetupBuilder 8 supports a new very important "Not pinned to the Windows 8
Start screen" shortcut option. This option prevents the desktop app's tile
from being automatically pinned as a shortcut to the Start Screen when it is
installed for the first time. The user will be able to see the app's tile
through their view of all installed apps. See attached screenshots.

More Win8 stuff to come...
