Hi,

I am playing with Subscription-Key Protection feature and it works good. But
I am a bit confused about follwing:

I have setup for my firs version setup01.exe. Let assume I have one customer
and he has 6 months subscription. So I sent him his key and all is fine. He
uses setup01.exe.

Now this subscription period is finished and I have released a new version -
so setup is setup02.exe. My customer don't want to extend his subscription
and want to use what he already owed. He is HD crashed and want to
reinstall. So he should use setup01.exe to reinstall AFTER subscription is
over! And can't do it! But he should be able to do this....

I'm confused how to solve this problem with "historical" old setup file and
subscriptions that are finished yet...

Hi Gennadi,

He can still install the original setup01.exe with his expired subscription
(even in the year 2049). If setup02.exe has been released *AFTER* his
subscription expired, he can *NOT* install the new setup02.exe.

Let us assume, the subscription of one of our customers would have expired
on September 1, 2007. In this case, he can still install the old
SetupBuilder 6.5 Build 1953 (released on August 10, 2007) and previous
versions. But he can not install the new SetupBuilder 6.6 Build 2000
(released on September 26, 2007)

Does this help?

Great! For some reason I was really confused that is not possible.

Genadi,

Do NOT forget though that for him to install the setup01.exe after his HD
crash he needs to...access to *that* exe and if you do not keep them on your
server for him then he's had it and has to buy a maintanance plan cursing
you :)

A thought while passing by .... <BG>
