View Full Version : 9.1 UHE in ClarionCL when registering TPL's

Has anyone else run into this? Every attempt to register a TPL results
in an UHE in ClarionCL.
Manually registering the templates works but not using the SB option.
Ok. Apparently since I used /ConfigDir when registering 9.1 ClarionCL
cannot handle template registration. Actually it handles it quite
badly.
Has anyone brought this to SV's attention?

ClarionCL.exe /? shows a parameter "/ConfigDir"
But how would you know whether this is needed?

Yep. Even if SV can't find a way it shouldn't throw a UHE. That's just
rude!<g>

or at least show a clue of a message.
There should be a way to detect if there's a configdir and also the
location of the configdir for that particular Clarion folder so that
ClarionCL knows what to do.

Seems there are bigger problems... I've lost keyboard & mouse wheel
scrolling in RPM, etc. PTSS: 40565

Yes, if Clarion is installed fresh and the first time it was ever ran was
from a shortcut that told it to use the /ConfigDir= location, the
ClarionCl.exe will stop working when it is called by SetupBuilder during a
template install.
I reported this to SV (and to Friedrich as a courtesy - even though it is
not a SetupBuilder problem).
I see two possible solutions:
1) Store the Registration info in the Registry and let both the IDE and
ClarionCL.exe get it from there.
2) Store the Registration info in a totally different file in the %AppData%
location and let both the IDE and ClarionCL.exe get it from there.
As long as the data is stored in the same settings file as everything else
and that file can be in multiple locations, this problem WILL exist.
Actually if you think about it, moving it to the Registry or a different
file will actually IMPROVE the efficiency of the /ConfigDir= option since a
developer could setup a new test copy (with a different /ConfigDir=
location) WITHOUT the need to go and dig out their serial number and
re-register Clarion.
It just makes sense and it would be an easy fix.
