Brain fart - manifest file

Friedrich,

I often model new web update projects from those that work, salting to
taste. This works rather well, until today.

When I try to run the update, it tells me it can't find the manifest
file despite being in the correct folder on my ftp site.

What is the one setting I overlooked? <g>

Perhaps you are using an incorrect Product GUID? ;-)

BTW, does your update or the standard web update client (which checks for an
update) reports the message? Just post a screenshot and I should be able to
tell you exactly what it is.

If it does not display a network communication error then it's an incorrect
Product GUID or the file does really not exist (e.g. canse-sensitive issue
or wrong folder).

BTW, and make sure your "Error 5060 - MIME" error is not back <g>. Perhaps
caused by a server "reset".

No, it's definitely not from an incorrect GUID.

As far as I can see, the communication to your server is blocked. Perhaps
your protection software put a lock onto the specific wupdate.exe? Can you
download the manifest file from Internet Explorer?

BTW, can you send me the project file (or the direct link to your manifest
file)? I'll then check it from here.

Yes, I can open the INI with a browser. I also just allowed wupdate.exe
through the firewall, no change. I'll send you the other stuff privately.

I sent a demo project one minute ago. The firewall does not cause it. Your
server always returns an error when the "Downaload File..." function tries
to download your .ini file. Perhaps you are using some kind of
"redirection"?

Nothing changed in the HTTP32.DLL download component (still dated 4/3/2012).

Friedrich found the problem. Mis-application of logins and passwords
will do this every time. Works perfectly now. :-)
