Setup overhead size?

Dear Team,

We are evaluating SetupBuilder (best Windows installer I have seen so far) and noticed that the overhead for a generated setup is only 180 KB. Can this be true? Or does the trial version have some runtimes pre-installed that are used by the setup?

Yes, small is beautiful :) There are so many large and bloated software installations around today that most people just assume this is normal. As you have already noticed, the SetupBuilder installer footprint (installer size without any files) is only 180 KB and has absolutely no reliance on Microsoft redistributables or 3rd party runtime modules. This small piece of code, called stub (compatible with Windows 95 up to Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2), includes the GUI wizards, uninstaller, decompression library and script engine.

Additionally, with no "unpacking" step required, SetupBuilder installers are also much faster to initialize and install than those created by competitive tools.

Wow, that was very fast ;)

Amazing. All the other installation systems have an overhead between 600 KB and 2 MB (with no files included). And installation speed does not come near to the SetupBuilder performance.
