Don't look on the website ;-)

Find your latest "there's a new SetupBuilder version" email.

At the bottom you'll find a link and login for purchasing an SSL
certificate.

As to how to implement, that depends on who's hosting your website on what.
The server needs to be told to use your certificate when it receives an
HTTPS request, and on what port (usually 443).

Also, be careful to make the who-am-I name on your certificate EXACTLY match
the URL people are going to use. Otherwise, they'll get a
do-you-want-to-go-there warning when they connect. (Unless you buy a more
expensive wildcard certificate.)

Just checked it out - seems fine. Have your tried them before? Are they
any different to the expensive ones?

Great - have you used them with a web site?

Soon. I had tested my current bandwidth of 100MBPS Uploading and
Downloading for my NETTALK Web apps and they are running very fine.

Thanks.

Support - how quick can we get this done? And our clients? Each client
will need a certificate? Will they need to use own and use SetupBuilder to
use this service?

OK - just checked it - we seem to qualify but we will need to find another
route for our clients who will be needing this.

I have to check this with our Sales, but IIRC, you can buy a special Premium
Membership for your clients so they can also get access to the discounted
SSL certificates.

If you are interested, I can contact our Sales.

Hi

I see that you are out of office until 26 July so I have to purchase
immediately and test. This first certificate is just for testing on our
server.

But please find out about our clients as they will all be purchasing in the
end. This is for the deployment of our iOS apps.

That is a pain in the neck. What if this URL is nested somewhere else on a
web page and you change that page from time to time? This means that the
home page needs to expect it. This seems to mean that the entire Website
needs expect https then. Not good.

Hi Jane

Just to be clear about the URL.

Assuming my domain is mydomain.com and the web site that is going to be
accessed is mywebsite

Should I submit who-am-I name as:

www.mydomain.com

or

www.mydomain.com/mywebsite

or

https://www.mydomain.com/mywebsite

What do they deem the who-am-I name to be?

Cheers
Andre

mydomain.com

Understand that the cert will not handle sub-domains such as
yadayada.mydomain.com - that requires a different type of cert.

Of course if you have your hosting done for you you should contact
your hosting company about SSL certs since they often will only
support specific brands and setup options. In other words don't buy
anything before making certain your host can use it.

Hi Lee

Well, we use sub domains. How does one go about getting a sub domain
certificate then?

We effectively have our own server at our hosting company but I will ask
them about sub domains.

Our clients host their own servers on site so that should not be a problem
for them.

But it really sounds as though it is one almighty mess again, techie style.

J André Labuschagné,

If you want to cover them all with a single cert you'll need a
wildcard cert which basically covers *.mydomain.com.

Don't confuse sub-domains with folders...

yada.mydomain.com and whatever.mydomain.com are sub-domains.

mydomain.com/yada and mydomain.com/whatever are just folders and are
covered by a standard cert for mydomain.com.

> But it really sounds as though it is one almighty mess again, techie style.

It can be a bit daunting at first.<g> I remember getting my hosting
business up and running was a MASSIVE PITA until it was done. Bought a
lot of books and did a lot of reading to figure out what I thought I
was doing!<g> Even the simple stuff about my upload speed was everyone
else's download speed, what permissions each folder needed, etc.

Hi Lee

Not folders but sub-domains. I will specifically request a wildcard cert
then.

Once again, you have been most informative. Thanks.

This *is* Comodo and exactly the same what you can find on our Lindersoft
site.
