View Full Version : Comodo FINALLY comes through...

On 17 Apr 2014 I purchased a COMODO CodeSigning Certificate through
Lindersoft. Today, 2 months and 28 days later I finally got the Certificate.

I could list all the horrible details (I have emails), but I won't.
Needless to say, it was one of the worst buying experiences of my life.
I over nighted everything they asked for, and then the journey through
internet hell began.

So...have fun with COMODO. It's a real trip that you won't enjoy.

I'm happy to say my last adventure into this 2.5 years ago was far
easier than yours. I think it took 2 days and it was all handled
online. Hopefully my next adventure with COMODO in December will go
just as smoothly as it did 2.5 years ago!!

Take the rest of the week off and relax - you need it!<g>

I would love to take the rest of the week off but my wife won't let me.

We make Tofu on Thursday, and deliver on Friday.

Also, COMODO seems to keep no record of your last Certificates.

Only 7 months left? Good luck. Oh, yeah, and don't buy/change computers
after the purchase.

Plus, I've obviously lost my ability to count, or add, or compute, in
the process: 1/2 year does not leave a remainder of 7. Does it? Well,
the case of COMODO, maybe yes.

Bob,

No one does or you could easily renew instead of shortening your
life!<g>

Hi Bob1

IIRC, COMODO is only geared to issuing certificates for software, not tofu.

I changed computers no problem... just don't do it during the process..
and when I did it last time (about 2.5 years ago as well), it was fairly
easy... but only internet explorer would work.

All WebTrust certified companies (Comodo, VeriSign, ...) have to follow the
same rules. So it's not COMODO's fault - we have to accept it. It's what it
is. WebTrusts process 500 certificates PER HOUR. They don't care, the
individual is unimportant. It all depends on the documents. I have been
told that it took 8 days for our own new certificate (all handled online
plus one phone call). NEVER EVER REQUEST A 1 OR 2 YEAR CERTIFICATE. You
don't want to go through this hassle every year.

Yesterday a developer received the certificate within 12 hours (I sent him
the links from our Online Forum and he ordered in the morning and received
it before his office closed).

same experience here - even faster as I got mine in four hours time (I
had a ticket opened and a tech guy called about that and he triggered
the renewal phone call)
but

never ever change any hardware or software between request and
reception!

period

or all hell will rise - as in your case....

Changing hardware was not the problem. That was handled in a 10 minute
call. The problem was COMODO's drones. They are clueless. Ah, well, I
can hardly wait for the next time.

Also, the "notarized" documents were sent to them UPS overnight. They
never asked for anymore documentation.

I had the same good luck, had no additional phone calls or information
required. But the time before this renewal was a nightmare. Thankfully I
wrote done everything that was an issue last time and made sure all
those things were in order before I renewed.

Just received feedback from another user (located in the US). Comodo
code-signing certificate (3-years) received within 5 hours today.

SetupBuilder Support,

Did you miss the <g> at the end of that? Friedrich is used to my sense
of humor and the fact I yank his chain at times. My reply was doing
just that, making humor of the situation.

You have to laugh through it all or it gets too heavy to bear.<g>

I think my last order (renewal) happened very quickly, about 12 hours.
They just needed to call the number I gave them to verify I was who I
said I wuz. After that phone call, I got the email in minutes telling
me the cert was ready.
