Hello,

we have to renew our code signing certificate soon. I read your SHA-2 statement and have two questions:

1) Does Comodo support the new standard SHA-2 or do we have to order from VeriSign (quite expensive)?

2) Do we have to make modifications to the Setup Builder script to support SHA-2 in the future?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Jill,

When you "renew" your certificate, I would suggest to order a 3 year Comodo certificate type. If the code-sign certificate order goes beyond 01-Jan-2016 then the Comodo system will automatically issue a certificate that supports Secure Hash Algorithm 256 (SHA-2)! No need to order the expensive VeriSign certificates.

BTW, you only need a SHA-2 compatible Microsoft signtool.exe and the upcoming SetupBuilder 8.2 compiler will do all the dirty work for you ;)

In one word, WoooooooW! I'm very happy that we switched over to SetupBuilder. The highest quality product, backed up by the best support in the industry.
