When entering my user ID then password I get a message back from Lindersoft
server "Server reports that it is from protected" and will not proceed.
Robert Daley from LS has tried the same as me their end and it works. I am
using IE11 and Trend Micro. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Nev,
I checked your login details and it's working fine. Just tried it on
Windows 8.1 using IE11.

Hi Friedrich.
I believe you etc but I cannot get it to work on this pc. Tomorrow I'll have
to setup Live Mail on the development pc so I can receive the code there.
That pc runs either XP, Win7 or 8.1 so it gives me more scope. Previously it
was done an XP pc which went kaput.
Thanks
Nev

Hi Nev,
If this PC already fails at this VERY early stage (a simple basic
authentication to login to the Comodo gateway) then expect more problems on
your machine when you try to request or collect the certificate <g>.
Something is definitely not working right on your PC.

All went through on the other pc so now waiting for them to send me
something, I hope.
Thanks

How long do you normally wait for them to contact you?

Between two and 48 hours.
Did you immediately open a support ticket?

After around 20 emails back and forth it appears that Dun & Bradstreet have
a phone number for me which was last used around 13 years ago and the number
of course is incorrect. Now I have to get D&B to change that. More delays.
It appears they verify just one step at a time.

One step at a time is pretty good!<g> I don't know why this has to be
such an excruciatingly frustrating process.

14 emails, each asking for the next bit of info and finally a phone call
this afternoon and my new cert is in and running. Like Arnold said, it
shouldn't be so hard and frustrating.

It's always between 2 hours and 14 days (or never <g>)!
The bad news is that all AICPA/CICA WebTrusts have to follow the very same
wired rules. So it does not make any difference whether you buy a
certificate from VeriSign, GoDaddy, Thawte, Comodo, etc. There is a new and
strange validation policy in town, especially if you are not (correctly)
listed at D&B or Hoovers. Thanks God, our attorney registered our company
with an agency of The US Department of Commerce. But it still took six full
days to get access to a new code-signing certificate (requested on 8/16/2013
@ 10:40 AM and received on 8/22/2013 @ 5:00 PM).
And in 2015, another validation policy change is planned.

My first attempt took about 3-4 days. When I renewed, it was done in
less than 24. Would have been faster if I answered the phone. They do
not leave messages.

Compared to code sign certificates dealing with Homeland Security
naturalization department for green cards or citizenship is a breeze!!! <g>
Will this change make current certificates (2 years old I think) invalid
in anyway or am I still good?

No, it's just a change in the identity verification procedure. It will not
make your 2 years old certificate invalid.
