View Full Version : SetupBuilder 8 Fatal Error [10]

Trying to do a static scan, Windows 8.1

"Fatal Static Scan Error occurred for myexe.exe"
"Static Scan was unable to complete the scanning process."
"Fatal Error [10] on file: myexe.exe"

Would Windows 8 be blocking the scan somehow?

Thanks,

Jack O'Brien

Jack,

it is not SetupBuilder itself, that ends up un a "Fatal Error", its Windows 8
or Windows Defender, that throws this message, when it tries to scan your
generated EXE - right?

Just for clarification.....

In case you wanted to trigger Friedrichs attention with a breaking headline,
then I can assure you, its not necessary. Friedrich will respond to less
alarmistic reports also, which the same thoroughness.

Thanks,
Wolfgang

Jack,

What Wolfgang said.

And please see the change log from an older SetupBuilder 8.1 Build 4391
(April 17, 2014)

CHANGE : [SB#3-11121] IDE: Modifications in the "Static Dependency Scan"
Task Automation feature to work around a possible Windows 8.x issue.

Are you using the latest SetupBuilder 8.5 or 8.1?

Just for your clarification....

I didn't use an "alarmist", "breaking headline".
I put a copy of the exact message I'm getting.

Jeez guy, lighten up.

Thanks,

Jack

Jack,

from the subject I got the impression that Setupbuilder is causing that "Fatal Error".

I guessed that you ddin't want to blame SB, just wanted to point out how it sounded to me.

no worries, I am relaxed.... <g>

Have a nice Christmas!

Bye,
Wolfgang

Thanks for your response.

Regarding "What Wolfgang said.".... Forgive me, but I don't see how
posting an *exact* error message is "alarmist".

With "What Wolfgand said" I meant what he said about the cause of the issue
and then I provided some extra information. Nothing more or less.

Glad it is solved. But I think you have completely misinterpreted the
replies to your original question.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with your question.

I suppose I have. Maybe one day someone will explain to me what I
misunderstood.
