Let me ask a stupid question<g>... if you sign using SHA-2 will it
work correctly when the program is run on an old XP box?

Let me ask a stupid question...
Why would anybody want to???? <g>
If you want to play, here are two skeleton installers you can download.
One signed with SHA2 (256)
One dual-signed with both SHA1 and SHA2

I have a lot of developers that use my stuff in older versions of
Clarion often running the old IDE in XP. I also have a fair number of
users, outside of Clarion developers, that still use XP.
So there, HA!<g>
I'll take a look at the installs after I get some sleep. It's after 1
AM here and my bwain<g> is shot!

On XP show no signature at all which is what I was worried about.

Shows one signature, sha256RSA.

SHA-2 definitely causes problems on XP and Windows Server 2003/2008. There
are some MS patches available to fix some issues, but only Windows Vista and
later fully support SHA-2. And for kernel driver signing, only Windows 8
and later support SHA-2.
So if you have to support older operating systems then dual SHA-1/SHA-2
signing is the answer.

Either I'll have to stick to SHA-1 or, heaven forbid, crank up one of
my Win8 VM's just for install generation.
My Win7 system did "see" both signatures though.
Such are the vicissitudes of life!<g>
