Save As

Hi Friedrich,

When I use "File | Save As" in SB 6.6 build 2040 it defaults to "My
Documents\Setup Builder 6 Projects"

Would it be possible to have this default to the location of the file
that is being saved? At least as an option?

Hi Arnór,

Hmm, it already does this. I checked this here on all available machines.

If I have c:\test\mytest.sb6 and I use "File | Save As" then it defaults to
c:\test here.

Correction - not all the time... <g> It depends on the "current folder".
I'll change it so it always defaults to the location of the file that is
being saved.

You mean "Project Location" in the Options? I just found that and
changed it and now it defaults to that folder. However, IMO, it
should default to the fodler where the file is. That seems to be the
default behaviour of "Save as" in most software that I'm checking
right now;)

No, I did not mean the "Project Location" in the Options. This location
sets the "default" project folder. What I meant was that the IDE seems to
change the currently active folder (that's bad).

Changed in our latest internal source codes! It does what you suggested now
and always defaults to the location of the file that is being saved.

Ah! Well the project location is cool for me also since it brings the
IDE to the right folder to start with:) I keep this in a separate
folder from the root, that way I can move it to another machine
without running into any issues with admin rights etc.

So there will be another build "Arnor" coming up?<bg>

Ok, here's one that I don't remember if I had posted.

Consider using a "data transfer" file of some sort to be able to
communicate with external programs for passing information to the SB
compiler and also back. With command line parameters being kind of an
undefined size they do have pretty severe limitations that depend on
OS, calling methods etc. etc. I could envision an XML file that could
be constructed by an external program, then the SB compiler is called
passing the XML file path/name to the compiler which would then read
it and update compiler variables etc. At the end the compiler could
write an XML file with information similar to what you have now in the
html log file and the errorlog, except I would like to be able to get
the entire log back even if there is no error, just to show what was
done and then combined with the html/xml it would make up a good
information about the build.

Just food for thought for later versions:)
