Perhaps you do not have the required CAPICOM.DLL component installed on your
Win10 machine?

Friedrich,

You REALLY need a new monitor that doesn't have red blotches on it!

Capicom.dll is in the same folder as Signtool.exe. I'll do a reinstall of
Win10 tonight and see if that fixes it.

And it has to be registered (it is an OCX). The signtool.exe message is not
100% correct because on newer Windows operation systems it is not enough to
have Capicom.dll in the same folder as signtool.exe.
The "capicom_v2102.exe" installer can handle it.

I see. Now to locate and download The "capicom_v2102.exe" installer. But
after installing Win 10 again it does sign ok.

Hi Neville!
There's a link to the capicom installer on Lindersoft.com.

Hi Friedrich!
However, it seems to be necessary to have a copy of the CAPICOM.DLL in
the SignTool folder.

Hi Craig,

I don't think so. The installer copies the CAPICOM.DLL into the System
folder and registers it. I do not have CAPICOM.DLL in the SignTool.exe
folder on any of our machines.
For example, fresh Windows 10 Enterprise (x64), latest build. Installed
SetupBuilder and then tried to code-sign. It failed (because of the missing
CAPICOM.DLL component). Installed capicom_v2102.exe (downloaded from
http://www.lindersoft.com/capicom_v2102.exe) and it code-signed.
