Set Access Control

[NewsArchive]

If I want to set access for "Full Control" of "All Users" including
all subdirectories and files of a folder, will the "Set Access
Control" function handle that in one swoop?

If so, would you please send me a screen shot of the suggested
settings?

It was the very least I could do.



Actually I believe that permissions are inherited by the sub-folders
by default so if you set the permissions on the parent the children
should inherit them... I think!<g>

We're having a problem with "ownership" issues, so I don't believe
that's completely true.

e.g. a service (on the server) communicates with an application (on a
workstation) via file swap. But the workstation can't always access
the file created by the service's account.

If TCP/IP communication were an option, I'd go with that. But it
ain't.

Or maybe I need to figure out how to programmatically set permissions
on files that I create rather than relying on setting of full control
for a folder and it's babies.

Is it a permissions issue or a access mode issue where the server has
the file locked or set to read/write deny all?

If you used a public folder wouldn't that work?
C:\Users\Public\Documents\SharedStuff

The reason I'm asking is what you seem to be describing here is
exactly how AFE works. The APP's write to a shared resource on the
network and the AFE servers read from that same resource.

And, before you ask<g>, the AFE that I'm working with right now is
running as a service not on a desktop.
