This is the outfit that tests all vendors - many times. There is a
product heavily advertised in the US called PC-Matic and it generated a
lot of false positives.
My product, ESET NOD32 has 100% for no false positives for the last 12
submissions.
Granted, that could be a hidden problem - it may not be sensitive enough
to detect valid viruses?

Russ,
I think the problem between PC-Matic and other products is that PC-Matic assumes that unless a program is in their "Whitelist" it's a bad program and treats it accordingly. It's left up to the user to determine whether the program should be "allowed" to run.
As developers, when we produce an executable and it runs into PC-Matic, it will be flagged. PC-Matic came out of a product called PC-Pitstop, that used the same type of anti-virus model.
Naturally, a product like PC-Matic will score higher on the Virus Bulletin Wrap test, but there will be a substantial number of false positives.

I jokingly tell my customers that anti-virus programs just block
everything.. so they don't have to worry.. didn't realize it's true!
I'm not much of a lawsuit person, but it seems to me there is something
wrong when other companies that directly interfere with my business of
selling software and causes me a potential loss of income, should get
their asses handed to them.
Can you imagine if you had a brick and mortar business and someone stood
outside your door and told your potential customers that you might be
harmed if you go inside.
I imagine the reason we don't lose more potential customers is because
we call them on the phone to check on their status using our trial version.
