View Full Version : Icons still not showing on desktop

I must have set something wrong. This has started when I changed the
install app to add new C9 program replacing the older C6 program.
Everything installs here with no problems, new Icon is displayed.

But when a new client downloads/installs I get a support call and have
to manually walk them thru setting up an icon on the desktop.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Getting rid of cached icons can be a challenge.

At the end of installers I run
ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache

Sometimes helps. Sometimes not.

What I've once resorted to was including the new icon twice. Then manually
setting the icon index in SetupBuilder's shortcut visualizer to point to the
new, non-default index.

I guess you could try deleting IconCache.db in each user's profile folder.

Or maybe just tell your users to reinstall Windows <g>

Thanks Jane,

Will give this a try. I think also I will create a new install app to
see if that helps. Test with a new customer indicates that the check
box 'Run Now' also fails to load the program. Install is set Asinvoker.

Why would you make an installer asInvoker?
