View Full Version : Launch program at end of install

I can't get my code to launch the program after installation.
I will admit I'm sort of all thumbs with Setup Builder.
Something about what I think of as non-procedural
script and it's relation to the large user interface just
confuses me when I try to use it after a time away.
I've tried the dialog boxes but just go around in circles.
I'd love some help and would glady pay a consulting fee to
someone that could help me with my installation system.

Check out the SB examples - "Run Checkbox 2" shows one way of doing this.
Be aware that Vista introduces some complications to running programs at the
end of an installation. There are several threads about that in this NG.
Check one dated April 4 of this year.
If you don't have the SB example files, you can download them from here:

Thank you Jane. I believe I did take a look but will look again.
My mind is so hard-core procedural logic that I have a hard time with
scripts divided into sections.

And of course, you can do it from within the "Run Program" Visualizer (see
attached screenshot). No scripting involved.

Hi Friedrich
Does it still give elevated problems in Vista, or have you put some magic
into the function ?
Kind regards

Good point! No, it still executes the application elevated under Vista and
Windows Server 2008 (RC). Built-in support for executing the aplication
"unelevated" is still under construction. The major problem is that Windows
Server 2008 does not allow detection of the elevation level :-(
