How does one add blank lines, for clarity and legibility, in the script?

Sim,

Use "Add Script Comment" and leave it blank. Then copy that line and
paste it wherever you want another.

What Lee and Charles said. Another option is right-click -> "Add Script
Comment..." -or- Ctrl+Enter in the Script Editor.
