View Full Version : Aspect ratio?

Not sure what is causing this, but when Edit a custom dialog, the controls are moved down and right when the script is run.
For example, I might place static text, say XYZ in the very center of the screen, then compile and run the script. When the dialog appears, XYZ is now lower and further right than when viewed in the dialog editor.
Since this is the case, I cannot place any controls within about an inch from the right edge because when the script runs, it is pushed off the right side.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,
to be frank, I have no idea and have never seen this before. Can you post a screenshot and send a simple test project?

Viewed in the Visual Dialog Editor for a Custom Dialog:
4635
And this is what it looks like when running the script:
4636
How do I add a .sbp file?
Basically, all I did was create new project and filled in some of the entry fields for company, etc. Then click Dialogs on the left and choose Custom Wizard Dialog. I then placed static text across the top at X-Positions 10, 100, 200, 300, etc. Then vertically along the left side at Y-Positions 150, 200, 250, etc.
Running this on a Windows 7, Latitude with 1920 X 1080 resolution. I'm using a docking station with two monitors, one left, one right side with the same resolution.
All General Information is the default for SB 10.0.5452
Also, is it possible to extend the timeout for my login sessions?
(I had to redo this post because it timed out by the time I did the screen shots and posted)
Thanks,

Carl,
hmmm, this is what I see here on all machines (see attached screenshots). The Dialog Editor did not change for years.

BTW, did you set some kind of "Custom Scale Factor" or "DPI" on your machine? The buttons look "old-style" and "larger" than normal. I checked our support records and as far as I can see, we have not received a similar support request in all the years (and there are quite a few thousand SetupBuilder developers out there). My screenshot is from a 1920 x 1080 resolution machine. I have tested your script on XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Server 2016. The custom dialog displayed as expected here.

This is a standard vBulleting installation and the timeout is set to the (default) 900 seconds = 15 minutes. I can increase it to 20 minutes, no problem.

Friedrich,
Did you look at the settings on my laptop??? ;)
You were exactly correct, it was the display settings. I set it back to 100% (small icons) instead of 115% (medium icons) and what I see in the Visual Dialog Editor is what I see when the script is run.
This did cause a different problem which I have experienced the past few days. It seems that if a control thinks it is outside the window (control x/y is out of bounds of the size of the dialog), the entire dialog will be bypassed when the script runs. I had to go back to each custom dialog window, delete all of the controls, place them back on the custom dialog, and recompile to get the custom dialog to appear when the script runs.
I'm glad I document everything I do, it was not that bad...
Thanks so much.

Hi Carl,
<G> ;) Thanks for the update !!!
BTW, do you still have such a script available that bypasses the dialog? I would like to investigate this.
Thanks so much for your feedback.
Friedrich
