View Full Version : Can't associate sbuilder.exe with .SB6 files !

SetupBuilder 6.7 doens't seem to be associated with SB6 files, and XP
won't let me select sbuilder.exe (i.e I select it from the browse, and
it is not added to the files of programs to assign) as a program to
associate with a file extension. I've never had this problem before!?!
Any ideas?

Hi John,
Works fine here and there is no bug in this area.
Make sure you have enabled the .sb6 file association support during the
installation (see attached screenshot).
Hope this helps.

I was thinking more of a bug in XP... <g>

I've tried re-installing, and don't get this window. Maybe I will have to
uninstall.
I guess I'm just puzzled why the usual process in XP of setting a file
association won't work.
Maybe registry corruption? I have found a heap of SB4 and SB5 entries in
the registry even though they are uninstalled.

Unfortunately, I have no idea :-(
But you are right. If you do not uninstall SetupBuilder 6 and you simply
"reinstall" then you'll not see the "Additional Tasks" dialog. The
installer is in Maintenance mode and does not change your current
SetupBuilder configurations (shortcuts, file associations, etc.).
So in your case, you have to uninstall and then reinstall.
